Accounts Payable

The Accounts Payable module is comprised of the Payment Request Center, Procurement Cards, and Emory's Supplier Database (Central only).

Payment Request Center

The Payment Request Center is the University's tool for payments to individuals.  Payments may include:

  • 1099 Payments - payments for services like consulting, study participant fees, etc.
  • Guest Reimbursements
  • Student Reimbursements

Procurement Cards

Emory University uses the Procurement Card module to reconcile P-Card charges.  In this module, cardholders may assign applicable SpeedTypes and Accounts Codes, attach supporting documentation, and verify their charges.  Approvers are able to review the charges once verified by the cardholder.

Emory's Supplier Database

Compass is the system of record for Emory suppliers.  The Supplier module is used by Central Finance to establish and maintain supplier records.

What's New in Accounts Payable (Heavy Users)?

Intended for users who create a larger volume of payment requests. Participants will learn how to enter and process vouchers, payments requests, gain a high-level understanding of vendor federal validations, and understand the workflow and approvals process.

Accounts Payable Operations (Payment Services Back-Office)

Module Lead

Intended for Accounts Payable power users (back-office) users identified by the Module Lead. Participants will learn the Accounts Payable process in Compass 9.2 soup to nuts including relationship with SciQuest, payment request and approval processes, workflow and approvals, supplier and voucher page processes and new functionality related to suppliers. Participants will also learn how to use the new WorkCenters for Accounts Payable to help streamline their day-to-day tasks.

Financial Gateway Settlement (AP Payment Services)

Intended for Accounts Payable power users (back-office) who deal with foreign currencies. Users identified by the Module Lead. Participants will learn how the treasury financial gateway process ties into Accounts Payable and how to process foreign transactions.

Listening Tours Items: Includes items captured from Listening Tour sessions held during early 2014 where Emory focus groups were formed to provide insight into what Compass features and functionality worked well, and which ones needed to be improved.
