Journal Entry/General Ledger
The Compass (PeopleSoft Financials 9.2) General Ledger (GL) is the central repository for financial data created by the economic activities of the University and Healthcare business units.
These activities include: payroll, student financials, accounts payable, expenses, accounts receivable, billing, asset management, treasury, grants and budget execution. As these activities are executed, the PeopleSoft system distills the economic event into accounting entries and these entries (journals) are posted to the GL. The GL then serves as a central source of data for financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
