Security and Workflow
Security in Compass is based on the types of access available in the PeopleSoft Financials system. Certain forms of access (i.e., expense reports) are considered basic and are available to any active employee.
For employees to receive other forms of access, their managers must complete a Compass Security Request form. The form requests data on the user and the user's organization, the transactions and related tasks being authorized, and the manager(s) who are authorizing the access.
Workflow in Compass is used to automate business processes in which items are passed from one user to another for action. Workflow is particularly beneficial as an electronic approval process which routes both transactions and their supporting documents to appropriate manager(s) according to a defined set of rules.
New PeopleSoft features and select Emory customizations are offering Compass workflow more efficiency, local control, and consistency across transaction types than ever before.
The Compass (PeopleSoft Financials 9.2) workflow module is the electronic approval process. This is used to automate business process during which documents, information or tasks are passed from one user to another for action, according to a defined set of procedures and associated rules.
